WHAT IS STEEL DETAILING?

What is Steel Detailing?

Steel detailing is the process of creating detailed drawings and plans for the fabrication and erection of steel structures. It is a critical part of the construction industry, especially for projects that involve steel as the primary material, such as bridges, buildings, and industrial facilities.

Steel detailers produce detailed, precise drawings that include all the necessary specifications for manufacturing and assembling steel components.

What are the drawings included in steel detailing?

1.Shop Drawings

These are detailed drawings used by the fabricator to manufacture the steel components. They include dimensions, material types, and welding or bolting requirements

2.Erection Drawings

These drawings show how the steel components will be assembled and erected at the construction site. They help guide the construction crew.

Erection drawings plays a vital role in the construction industry.

Steel detailing is done using specialized software (such as AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, or SDS/2) that allows detailers to create highly accurate, 3D models and detailed drawings. The aim is to ensure that the fabricated steel parts are manufactured and assembled correctly on site, minimizing errors and costly changes                                                                                             during construction.
